Post subject:  Internal player and mpg files

G'day,

When I updated to R5.5 and beyond I lost the ability to jump FF/BK when using the Internal player.

I have recorded TV shows that I want to keep and some I want to watch later when we have a series in the correct order (a problem in the UK).

Prior to R5.5 I could use the Internal Player to skip over the ads, when I try that now it just jumps to the end of the file.

What would cause that? Some setting or a change to the internal player.
I can use xine to watch stuff, but that is not as convenient. It seems to work OK when the file is an .avi just not a .mpg

Could it be your remote button mappings? Compare your lircrc files (/etc/lircrc in R6, should point to a template file, I think it was /home/mythtv/.lircrc in R5)

That's probably a good guess. My other suggestion would be to look at your playback profile. When I went to R6 it was the source of a problem in the opposite direction for me, the skips were too short.

stinga - Are you talking about skip or literal FF? The former tends to work much better, and there are definitely some trouble spots with the other.

G'day,

I actually thought of the button mapping yesterday in the pub, it is something I have not checked. I will do so and get back to you.

<edit 1>
Sadly, it was not that :-(.
Whatever I select, it immediately jumps to the end of the recording.
THis is a recording I have moved from the normal playback area to the video area so that I can keep it. So any db information will have been lost (In theory), it is almost as if it want to jump to a location that it shoul dhave got from the DB and defaults to the end when it can't find anything. I have not looked to see how it works though.

<edit 2>
Fixed,
I upgraded to the latest release ... 6.03
