I hadn't paid it a lot of attention lately, but when I did, I noticed all of my Mythboxes weren't skipping commercials. (on HD)

They were processing the commercials and had finished flags, but no skipping anything.

So I wonder if I have the method mis-set (default: all) and wonder if an individual setting would work better, or have the networks ceased using 'markers' that used to make this work well ?

Check the settings of the flags that control skipping without converting to cut lists. Somebody was just complaining about the opposite problem, which turns out to be how AutoCommercialSkip is set.

AutoCommercialSkip=0 Don't skip without real cut lists.
AutoCommercialSkip=1 Yes, skip the commflag guessed stuff
AutoCommercialSkip=2 No but shows commercial detected dialog

Frankly commercial flagging is only the starting point for a useful cut list and on about half the recordings it's a pretty crappy starting point. That makes the best part of the auto skipping "feature" being able to tun it off IMO.

I saw the other post... obviously a lotta YMMV ....

Some channels and even shows are much better than others. For stuff on ION it's pretty good maybe 80% correct, for stuff on ABC it's more noise than signal at like 30%.
