I run a Sony PlayTV as a DVB-T tuner. It worked fine in the previous kernel (LH 7.00.03 - I'm not sure of the kernel name), but not in this one (2.6.39).
Problem 1:
The tuner wasn't showing up in mythtv and there was no /dev/dvb being created. Looking through the kernel logs there was none of the usual messages about "identified Sony PlayTV tuner" and "loading firmware" etc.
Turns out if I explicitly unload the relevant tuner kernel modules (dvb-usb-dib0700 and dvb-usb) then reload them (in the opposite order) I get more comforting messages in the kernel log and a /dev/dvb directory.
Excellent I thought ... for a minute or two ...
Problem 2:
Starting mythbackend causes a kernel oops. The first few lines look like this

so there's no question it's related to the tuner driver.
I'm writing in the forum rather than submitting a bug because I'm not sure if it's something that I'm doing wrong ... although I can't think what that might be as it was all working nicely in the previous kernel.
Any suggestions are most appreciated as I am rapidly swimming out of my depth.
