Ever since the last DST change, my mythbox has been driving me slowly insane. It's an older box, pre-LINHES. I've forgotton exactly which series it is, and I'm not sure how to tell... It's been working like a plowhorse up until the DST change.

Ever since the change, the internal clock is correct and shows the correct time, but my schedules on SOME channels is one hour off. No biggie, I thought, and I pulled out the old "mythfilldatabase --refresh-all" command. All was well.

Then I got up the next morning and... Yep. many stations were now an hour off again. I tried "mythfilldatabase --refresh-today" and the problem was cured. Until later that day, when it recurred.

In fact, every day, once or twice a day, the schedule gets hosed again. Everytime mythfilldatabase fixes it. The clock has always been correct over this time. My new LINHES box (I'm building it to take over soon) works fine.

I'm really getting sick of running mythfilldatabase all the time and wondered if anyone has seen or solved this problem!

Do you have "use on air guide" enabled? I find that is a recipe for disaster when the time changes. Our local PBS station are especially bad and it seem to take a couple weeks for them to get their act together and get the guide info back in sync with the broadcasts.

To the best of my memory, I do not have the on-air guide turned on. But I'm in China and my box is in the US so it's pretty well impossible to check. I do have SSH enabled and can see my box but I never figured out how to export the X display to my mac so I can't check the backend settings.

Maybe that's in the database somewhere and I could fix it using mythweb, which I also have access to. It grates me that I'm missing all of my recordings because the stupid box randomly shifts all the schedules 1 hour too late.

In mythweb go to settings --> TV --> Channel Info and uncheck the useonairguide for each channel.

On my system it seems to keep getting tuned back on by some misfeauture, either in channel scanning or an upgrade process. The easiest way to check (and fix) it over an ssh link is with mysql. As root run:
Code:
mysql mythconverg

This will show you the settings:
Code:
select channum, useonairguide from channel;

And this will turn it off:
Code:
update channel set useonairguide=0;

You guys are awesome! I take back all those things I said about you! :P

Indeed the "update on air" had been selected for all the channels and I'm now doing a mythfilldatabase --refresh-all for (hopefully) the last time. The "roommate acceptance factor" (RAF) was dropping rapidly since football games were affected by this problem!

I'm confident this will cure all my problems. (At least the myth-related ones!)

Houston... We have a problem...

Everything worked great for a day. Now it appears my channels are STILL being overridden by the "on air guide", yet my mythconverg database says the flags are all zero!

I'm starting to think a poltergeist has taken residence in my old KnoppMyth box!

Did you restart the backend? I think that setting may be cached...

Thanks tjc. I'll try the restart and do mythfilldatabase one more time.

If you're using data direct there is a newish flag to get it to clear and reload all the schedule data. As the mythtv user run:
Code:
mythfilldatabase --dd-grab-all
