Has anyone succeeded in build the XBMC Edan release on LINHES 7.2? |

The deps are different from v10. My advice is wait for the devs to package it. If you can't wait, see the AUR for the git package and try to build that. If you can, you'll be able to build v11. Keep an eye on the official arch package: http://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/ ... kages/xbmc |

Marc I installed it on Windows 7 last night just to check it out. The main menu is horizontal rather than vertical. However, you can access the library via a tab so thumbs up for that being more direct ![]() Also I opened a ticket feature request #824 for XBMC 11 Eden to be added to the XMBC package it will be added into Linhes 7.3 and is assigned to CECIL.... |

Once it hits an Arch repo I am going to give it a try on 7.2 with a test hard drive. I will let you guys know how it goes. I am really looking forward to the MythBox addon, which works well enough in Eden to replace a myth frontend, at least that was my thought when I tried Eden on a Windows PC. |

I installed Edan on a quad-core windows vista machine I have. The performance was very poor but I read somewhere that upgrading my video drivers might solve the problem. I'll give that a shot soon and see how it goes. I tried mythbox and my feeling is that I actually like the mythtv frontend better than using mythbox as a frontend. Not sure what others think... |

Well XBMC Eden went from the community-testing repo tonight, over to the community repo. So I updated my pacman mirrorlist and installed. Everything installed ok, but when I go to launch, I am getting several conflicts stating that xbmc.bin cannot open a variety of shared libraries. I dont think I have enough linux-fu to do anymore, oh well. Unless someone posts a how-to, I will just wait for it to be included in Linhes 7.3 |

Unless someone posts a how-to, I will just wait for it to be included in Linhes 7.3 LH != Arch You will break things if you start cross pollinating Arch packages into LH as you found out. You'll need to wait for the LH devs to release the LH-specific package and corresponding deps. I think the safest thing you can do is to: 1) Remove the arch repos from /etc/pacman.conf or where ever LH keeps them (been too long since I ran LH). 2) pacman -Syy # this will refresh your dbs with the LH only stuff 3) pacman -S xbmc # this will force a downgrade of the package to the LH one and hopefully pull down the LH deps as well |

Hey Greysky, thanks for still providing help even though you are done with LH! Knowing that it might break stuff, I did this install on a testing hard drive. That being said, surprisingly nothing broke in myth after install as far as I could tell. Xbmc simply would not start due to a variety of errors. I am a little bummed about needing to wait for xbmc 11 since nearly all the video plugins I use no longer support v10. I do understand the need to wait, and appreciate the stability of LH. |

I do understand the need to wait, and appreciate the stability of LH. I had a similar issue with needing the latest version of Handbrake before it was available in the LINHES repos. I found that the Ubuntu Maverick builds of Handbrake worked on LINHES 7.2. You can try this with XBMC Edan if you are so included -- see the second post on this threadfor a description of how to do this if you are interested. |

WOW! Just saw that Cecil and Gang have added XBMC Eden to the linhes extra-testing repo along with dependencies. Great work guys, and amazingly fast! http://linhes.org/issues/824#note-2 I am going to try to test this out tonight on my 'test hard drive' and see how it goes. Anyone else going to try with me? I will submit any bug reports if found. |

Would be interesting to see if the "excessive CPU usage" reports affect the LH builds as well (I can't see how they would be exempt). http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=128343 https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=139318 http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/12909 |

I had no idea that was an issue. I will test it out and let you know. |

*Update* Everything works now, had to manually remove xbmc 10 and deps with pacman -Rs, then install v11. First attempt at install told me several deps were corrupted. Everything worked on the second try. _______________________ Well, I enabled the LH testing repos and installed. but when I try to launch I get Code: /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc.bin: /lib/libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.15' not found (required by /usr/lib/libbluetooth.so.3) So basically, I dont know whats wrong. |
