Help!! I had a message that the system partition was 96% full. (usually runs around 86) looked for large files found a few and deleted them. That to me down to 91% so did a reboot. After the reboot xserver didn't start. I looked at the Xorg.0.log Code: [ 451.596] (**) NVIDIA(0): Enabling 2D acceleration [ 451.597] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module. Please see the [ 451.597] (EE) NVIDIA(0): system's kernel log for additional error messages and [ 451.598] (EE) NVIDIA(0): consult the NVIDIA README for details. [ 451.598] (EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting *** [ 451.598] (II) UnloadModule: "nvidia" [ 451.598] (II) UnloadModule: "wfb" [ 451.598] (II) UnloadModule: "fb" [ 451.598] (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. [ 451.598] Fatal server error: I used pacman to remove and reinstall nvidia , and the kernel headers, I got a message to reboot for changes to take effect. After the reboot I still have the same problem. I looked at the mythtv_kernel.log Code: 2012-07-21T09:06:14.254612-04:00 mythtv kernel: [ 511.588481] NVRM: API mismatch: the client has the version 295.20, but 2012-07-21T09:06:14.254612-04:00 mythtv kernel: [ 511.588481] NVRM: this kernel module has the version 280.13. Please 2012-07-21T09:06:14.254620-04:00 mythtv kernel: [ 511.588483] NVRM: make sure that this kernel module and all NVIDIA driver 2012-07-21T09:06:14.254626-04:00 mythtv kernel: [ 511.588485] NVRM: components have the same version. How can I resolve the differences? Also when I log in I am getting this message. Code: /bin/df: `devpts': No such file or directory /bin/df: `tmpfs': No such file or directory Not sure what thats all about either. Tim |

Did you make sure you uninstalled all 3 nvidia pkgs (nvidia nvidia-utils and opencl-nvidia) and that when you reinstalled they were all at the same version? |

I did reinstall (nvidia, nvidia-utils, and opencl-nvidia). Then rebooted. That did fix the nvidia problem, but then was prompted to update the mythconverg data base. Looks like it did a partial upgrade. The frontend reports Myth .25 but can't do much else. Tried to do an upgrade from the script but it just hangs at updating repos core and extra. Not sure where to go from here. Opened a new thread on the install issue. Tim |
