I've navigated most of the issues with this weird nVidia 8200 graphics and I have only one more step.... Restoring my backup from 7.4. I have the backup file on a stick, but mythweb doesn't seem to show anything from xymon. I did some steps and I can see xymon is, indeed, running. I can do a "ps" and grep the output for xymon and it yields tons of stuff. It just isn't connecting thru mythweb for some reason.

This is a brand-new installation of 8.3 on a virgin disk. I haven't done any mythbackend config since I was going to restore it from the backup. As a side note, the "restore" option in the user interface does nothing at all -- it seems borked for some reason. So there isn't ANY WAY to restore your mythbox unless xymon is running and you can access mythweb. This seems like a real failing, to rely so heavily on such a house of cards when trying to bring up a new mythbox. But what do I know?

Any words of advice?

-- Joe

Put your backup file in /data/storage/disk0/backup/system_backups/ then do one of the restore from the command line using lh_system_restore. http://linhes.org/projects/linhes/wiki/ ... nd_Restore

Thanks for the tip! I'm back now and about to hang on my former volume group disks... Off to the cheat sheets to make sure I don't reinitialize my terabyte of stupid TV shows...
