So with all the troubles I've had getting 8.3 to work on my old 7.4 platform, I decided to rip out the old m/b and replace it with a newer generation. This one came with a Celeron J1900 processor with integrated graphics. Others have reported getting mythtv to work on it in accelerated mode, albeit not linhes users (yet). I installed 8.3 clean and almost everything is working great -- sound, 2TB discs, USB 3.0, Gbig LAN -- the improvements are great. HOWEVER, the loaded Intel driver (xf86-video-intel 2.20.14-1) does not seem to recognize my chipset and enabled acceleration. Without acceleration hi-def is basically unwatchable, so I'm here hat in hand to get help on this issue. Hopefully this will be the last issue! Joe |

So I've been able to watch TV with the video profile of "normal" with this chip (pretty good performance for a Celeron) but I'd still like to get accelerated drivers working. I see the latest Intel driver is 2.99.something while ours is 2.20.something. Is there any concern about just getting the latest and greatest and putting it on? I can research from the Arch linux site how to do that... Joe |

I could be very wrong, but I thought only the NVIDIA chipsets supported acceleration? |

Hi Mattbatt -- The Intel graphics are accelerated with a technology called VAAPI. It's built into Myth too, just like VDPAU. But its not seeing my chipset as supported. |

Looks like getting the latest intel driver built will be some work due to some of the deps that are quite old on LH. The biggest being xorg-server. I don't have intel hardware to test on, would you be able to test? |

Oh yes, I can definitely test. This is the "summer doldrums" so it's the ideal time to mess with the LH box. Not that much interesting material being recorded, so even if i bork the box awhile it doesn't actually matter! -- Joe |

Not sure if it will apply but I have an Intel NUC D34010WYKH which would still need a bit more work video acceleration This model is an I3-4010U processor 4400 HD graphics. It is only used as a front end but it can be a test mule as much as needed. |

The 2.99 Intel driver was pushed to the release repo last week. Is that is what you are currently using? |
