My VIzio TV has developed a fault 1 week before the manufacturers warranty expires. They tried to replace the main board but the replacement actually didn't even boot. It was booting on the original board, it would just randomly reset itself. So now I'm stuck waiting for an unknown period before I will have a TV back.

So the lesson for all is, if you have a Geek Squad extended warrant from BestBuy, wait until it kicks in because if you go 60 days without your TV they will replace it. The manufacturer doesn't need to do this...

Which all leads me to the fact that there are a lot of new shows debuting and my wife and I would really like to watch them on our Samsung Tab S tablets. We have the MythTV FE app that is in the app store and I have it working, but it just seems to place the raw MPEG-2 TS files I'm capturing from the ATSC antenna. Instead, I'd like my BE to transcode them to a small MPEG-4/AAC stream and stream them over HLS. I know Myth can do this but I can't seem to see how to enable it in LinHES. Is this possible?

Is there an HLS streaming howto for LinHES?

Thanks,

-Jeff

Is this the app you are using? https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... roid&hl=en
It looks like he still is transcoding to HLS in real time.

I think everything is setup by default in LH for HLS streaming to work. But the only client that I have tested it with is MythExpress. It works pretty well in Safari on Macs and iOS devices but it will not stream in Windows using Chrome or Firefox.

MythTV player works for me.... eventually. Unfortunately my backend is too old to transcode the videos to an HLS stream on the fly. So I can click on a show to watch and then go do something for 10 mintues to build up the buffer. I think what the OP was asking for was a way to pre-transcode the files so that they are ready to go.

If you cant get that to work, you can try the plex server and app. I have been using it and it works pretty well.
