Somehow I have brought down my backend on 8.4.1 and I can't figure out how to get it back up. Everything was running well. I attempted to configure a static IP address in the linhes service menu. The static IP address was exactly the same as the DHCP address except I wanted to change the dns server. Here are a few things that I have checked:

Code:
mysql -u mythtv -p

allows me to login without a problem.

/etc/hosts shows:
Code:
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.130 mythtv

/etc/resolv.conf shows:
Code:
search local
nameserver 192.168.1.1

(Which incidentally is not the nameserver I tried to configure, but the one that I was using successfully before I attempted the change.

In mythtv-setup I see:
Hostname 192.168.1.130
Port: 3306
Database: mythconverg
user: mythtv
password:mythtv

Code:
ip addr show dev eth0

inet 192.168.1.130/24 brd 192.168.1.255 scope global eth0

the only other thing that I attempted during this session was to install google chrome
Code:
pacman -S google-chrome

Code:
dhcpcd eth0

I tried the above command and then attempted to restart the backend but I got the same error

Any ideas on how to get things running again?

31 views without a response. I'll take that as a signal that it's time to re-install clean and restore my backup. If I manage to recreate the problem, I'll let you know.

I don't have my myth box near me. Why are you putting a computer named mythtv in the hosts file of your mythtv computer. For example my hostname for my Fe/be linhes box is Gimli my other front-end is Frodo, I don't think I want to put Gimli's address in the hosts file on Gimli.
Did you configure your router to set the static IP for your mythtv box?

Since you are able to login to mysql from the command line check all the .config.xml files.
/usr/share/mythtv/config.xml
/home/mythtv/.mythtv/config.xml
/root/.mythtv/config.xml
