After not running LinHES for several months I find it won't start. I keep getting a

Starting rpc.bind
Another rpc.bind is already running - Aborting
Starting rpc.bind
Another rpc.bind is already running - Aborting
It starts the backend but the frontend never starts just keeps repeating

Starting rpc.bind
Another rpc.bind is already running - Aborting
Starting rpc.bind
Another rpc.bind is already running - Aborting

What do I need to do? Thanks

Sounds like the frontend (xorg) isn't starting. Check Xorg.log.

yes it does complain about X
found this in dmesg

I did run :
sudo VGACARDTYPE="nvidia-340xx" xconfig.sh

And rebooted but no luck .

That looks like the nvidia drivers you have installed are not the version that was built for the kernel you have installed.

Upgrade to R8.6 to get the updated kernel that matches the nvidia drivers.

Or change your /etc/pacman.conf to point at the core.r8.5.2 and extra.r8.5.2 repos and install nvidia driver.

That fixed it. Guess the drivers must have updated some how.

When you ran xconfig.sh it would have pulled the most current from repo which was now R8.6.

Out of curiosity why did you force the 340 driver? What driver did it select for your card without forcing?

I've been dealing with the problem of the front end hanging as described
in this thread. I had been running the 304xx version and was going to switch back.

FYI I am still getting the "Decoder timed out waiting for free video" in R8.6 using VDPAU normal as well.
