Post subject:  HDHomeRun bad recordings while streaming. Networking

So I have finally figured out that some of my bad recordings have nothing to do with my OTA antenna and happen at the same time as I am streaming YouTube, Netflix, Prime etc. I have Chrome installed and on my Frontend/Backend and I use it to with my streaming services and when I do it as the same time as a high bitrate primetime TV show is recording I get artifacts and errors on the screen.
The HDHR is a very functional, if not slightly dated, First Gen HDHR Dual and is connected to my router next to my LinHES box.
This happens when I'm recording to my SSD or my spinning drive so I don't think it's the drive not keeping up.
Is it just a case of network congestion?
Should I try installing a second NIC just for the HDHR or maybe a network switch before the router?
Has anyone else noticed this?

I have that first gen (white) dual tuner hdhomerun and a newer duo and I am not experiencing this. I have not had any issues like you are describing due to network utilization. I believe that YouTube, netflix, and prime are going to have lower networking resources, but higher decoding requirements. Is it possible that your CPU is not up to the task of decoding at the same time as the network io? I dont think that linux will be able to hardware decode netflix and prime because of drm. I wouldn't think that youtube would have drm, though.

FYI, my networking is hardwired gigabit.

I thought my router was gigabit, but apparently it's only 10/100.
I'll have to pop open top sometime to see if the CPU is maxed out.
