I've been using MythTV on a Dragon platform for a couple of years. I decided to do a fresh install of Linhes 6.01.00. The installation fails early on with the message "Could not find myself on the network". The only choice on the Network Setting page for a device is "eth0". I've got a wired ethernet connection to my home router which works fine on the same hardware under knoppmyth. Any ideas on what's going on? Many thanks, |

Eth0 is correct for your network card, but if it failed to install I'd have thought you would not be able to get the network setting page. I imagine this is what confused graysky, too. Can you clarify this? How did it fail? How did you get to the network settings if your installation failed? We need to know what you're asking us to help with. Mike |

I have also encountered this message, during the install sometimes when you setup eth0 it can't sort out the driver/connection for some reason. To fix the problem click continue and then the install will proceed without the network connection. Once the system reboots Choose /Service Menu/LinHES Configuration/Network Settings/ Double check all of your settings, sometimes it is just a matter of getting the numbers to stick. Other times its misconfiguration. It could also be a problem with the driver. Open up Xterm type ifconfig -shows ip and packet info ping your router by ip - shows if the network is available ping 127.0.0.1 - shows if the nic is toast lspci - shows IRQ info about all your cards Try to narrow down the issue |

I can complete the installation; but I have no network. I can get to the Network Settings and it looks good to me. ping 127.0.0.1 -> works ping 192.168.0.1 (my router) -> Network is Unreachable ifconfig -> eth0 and lo are listed. eth0 does not list an ip address in the second line as it often does. lspci -> Communication controller: Intel Corp 82P965/G964 HECI Controller Ethernet controller: Intel Corp 82566DC Gigabit Network Connection USB Controller: Intel 82801H -- THere are 3 of these PCI bridge: Intel Corp 82801h -- there are 7 of these Also listed are: controllers for disk, bus, vga (nVidia Corp G71) IDE Interface: Marvell Technology Group -- wireless card Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group -- wireless card I've been able to use NDISWrapper to get the wireless card working but I've not been able to get the wired ethernet to work. And I need them both as I've got an HDHomerun that I want to plug into the wired Ethernet interface and I use the wireless interface to talk to the internet. Thanks for you help. Do you see anything amiss? |

Thanks for you help. Do you see anything amiss? Try: su -c "dhclient3 eth0" and watch the messages. It's important to note what ip address (if any) it connects to for the dhcp server. Mike |
