When I installed LinHES I set it for standalone. I didn't think I would try it out with a frontend.

Now I'm setting up a frontend (for fun - possibly more) and it can't talk to the standalone.

Can I change my standalone to be a ME/BE system or is it too late? (I haven't dug too deep yet -- so I thought I'd ask here)

Thanks,

-Ben

Go into the service menu > LinHES Config and change it from there.

The only menu I see where I could do something like that is LinHES Config -> System Type -> Host Settings

Type of System Setup: Standalone

And the screen is not wired to let me change that.

Strange. I can do it here. You can try to manually edit /etc/systemconfig. This is where the LinHES settings are stored. Be sure to save a copy of the file before you go tinkering...just in case.

Er, ok,

digging around -- not able to find... What are the available options for that field (keeping case sensitivity in mind)

Thanks,

-Ben

OK, I think I found it... it's "Master_backend"

But I suppose the question still remains.. why can't I change my system? (like you can) -- I haven't fidgeted with any of the menus like that.

I did see in /etc/my.cnf, it could be as simple as commenting out skip-networking

or as complicated as having to sort through all the changes that

/usr/MythVantage/bin/mv_hostype.py seems to inflict.

(cringe)

Are you watching? I'm guessing you might be the best to answer this question.

Thanks,

You best bet to find him (or other help) would be in irc.feddnode.net in channel #linhes. Particularly in the late afternoon/evening pacific time.

It's grayed out by default to prevent accidental changes.
There is a config option in the access section to enable the selection

THAT's it! Thanks...

I thought I'd seen it somewhere!!

Ok - doing the change now.

Although Myth is taking a LOoonnnngg time on "Transferring database settings" --- Mythinstall is taking about 5-6% of the the cpu.... and it's just chugging. That has me a little worried. It's the top process as shown by top.

The system is showing about 35% use though. So, I'll let it run for a while just in case. But I don't have warm fuzzies.

Your best best is to check the log files to see why it's in a loop.
Will probably have to kill it and run setup manual to repair the broken stuff.
