Finally decided to upgrade to R6 using the latest 6.02 image. Well I chose the upgrade option but it looks like it wiped out the data on sda3 anyway.

Don't know what happened there but thought I should mention it.

Got past the problems with not being able to add a user from the menu and setting the root password,
but still have a few problems to go.

Even though configured the box for static IP from the configuration menus it's still using DHCP. What do I need to do to fix this?

Also when I go to watch TV I get a please wait, and then it comes back to
the menu.

Thanks

Tim

Dropped all the tuners and reconfigured them and resolved the watch TV issue.

However I still have the network issue.

I edited the

/etc/rc.conf and added in the network info for eth0 then did the

/etc/rc.d/network restart

That changed the IP address, but at the next reboot of the box it still reverts back to a DHCP address.

How do I get around this?

What gives?

etcnet is used for network, not rc.conf. Config files are under /etc/net

[edit] Let me lead you directly to the water....

I tried the steps in the mentioned post but it posted an error when trying to restart the network.

I did however try the part of the post, and un-selected static IP then re-selected, then re-entered the data and selected finish. After the message about configuring the network. It worked.

Static IP is now configured and working. Thanks for getting me pointed in the right direction.
