Hi all,

I have an Hauppage HVR-850 that I'm trying to make work with LinHES 6.0.3. The install goes fine, but for the life of me I can't get mythtv-setup to recognize my tuner card.

I've poked around a bit, and here's what I found:
- There are no /dev/video* (or /dev/v4l/video*) devices
- lsusb lists the device, so I know it's attached
- I see nothing in dmesg/kernel.log concerning the tuner card

From other posts I've read here this "should work out of the box", but I'm totally stumped. I'm new to MythTV (though not Linux), so I'm clueless as to where to look for problems/suggestions. I did run pacman -Suy, but that didn't help.

Anyone have any hints?

Thanks
-T

What's the output of lsusb for the HVR-850? It appears there are 3 different versions of this device. One of them is not supported.

You are of course correct... I do have the one model that isn't supported. I'd read that page, even... just never connected the dots. Thanks for the smack upside the head.

I did find a driver for this card at http://www.kernellabs.com/blog/?p=1445, and I was able to get it working under MythBuntu (long story how I ended up there). If I get a chance I'll try to get it working under LinHES too. Last time I tried to compile a driver under LinHES I think I was lacking make though... so I think I have some more homework to do before I can do that. :)

Thanks again

Code:
$ sudo pacman -Sy base-devel
should pull everything you need in. If you get it working, open a ticket for it so we can get it into LinHES.
