I installed 7.1 to a blank hard drive and after I configure it I will move over my database and files...
Things I can't figure out.
1) Why isn't ctrl alt backspace restarting x
2) What happened to "locate"
3) where have all the cowboys gone? :-D
overall smooth install I never have any good luck upgrading any operating system I always start from scratch.

Thanks
MattBatt

I was wondering about this myself.

Went to use it and it didn't do anything!
No problem with "locate" here though

I'm thinking that it was most likely just overlooked.

I would think that it would be defined in either /usr/share/fluxbox/keys
or
/home/mythtv/.fluxbox/keys

but that's just a swag

Can someone still running R6 look in those files and report back?

ctrl+alt+backspace is a Xorg configuration thing that changed in the more recent versions of X.

Have a look here:

jams,

I found the section you mentioned.
Quote:
New Xorg disables zapping with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace by default.
You can enable it by adding the following line to /etc/X11/xorg.conf,
Code:
Option  "XkbOptions" "terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"

to InputDevice section for keyboard.

I tried this but still didn't get it work.

Try the option listed for hot plugging. It seems to work just fine for me.

Within /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf, simply add the following:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "Keyboard Defaults"
MatchIsKeyboard "yes"
Option "XkbOptions" "terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"
EndSection

Tried adding where you suggested but doesn't work there for me either.
Go figure.

I did follow this link:
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22352
to back-rev the Nvidia driver

It solved several problems I was having with hangs an myth dropping out to the splash screen, and also brought back the ability to
ctl -alt backspace to restart X without any additions to the 10-evdev.conf

Also mattbatt I did a fresh install of 7.1 from the CD and you are correct locate is not there. Guess my "locate" worked because it was an upgrade.

I finally got annoyed with this not working. Did anyone ever get ctrl alt backspace to work again. I tried the two methods listed in the link but neither work for me. I'm making this thread a zombie and bringing it back to life.
