jams I think that (linhes.org + 'yyyyy') did it!

At work now and it fixed this test system here. I will try again with system I am trying to build tonight.

Thank you very much. Just curious is the 'yyyy' trick documented somewhere or is that a hidden pacman feature?

Glad it worked.
My guess is both things were needed.

pacman -Syy is mentioned in the man page, in a nutshell all it does is force a refresh.
Sometimes pacman can be stupid and needed a full refresh to pick up the server side change.
