Got my R8 install USB stick working, great. I am trying to install to another USB stick. I have tried 2 4GB sticks and a 16GB stick and for each of them I get the same error msg: " Invalid Partition Size". This msg pops up just after the warning that it is about to erase all data on the drive.

Also, when I look in /var/log I see no messages or similar log file, where are the logs?

TIA,

Paul

Use Gparted to wipe the drive I noticed that R8 doesn't do a great job of wiping the drive.

Thx for the tip, I haven't tried it (yet) however I have tried 2 more sticks from work and they also got the same error. I figured out where the log is and posted the tail of it below. This is for a 4GB stick. Has anyone got this to work?? Thx.

So yeah those sizes add up to more then 16GB, which is why it's failing.
You will need to reduce the size of the various partitions to under 16 (or whatever your usb drive size is)

If the Gui won't let you reduce the size, then it is possible to adjust the sizes after the gui fails. But I don't recall how off the top of my head.

Well that was embarrassing, I was blasting through all the defaults for a test install and assumed 16GB was plenty to install to by default, but if I had taken half a second to read the default partition sizes I'd have noticed that they were bigger than 16GB...

Thx
