| Post subject: | R8 Backend Migration |
I have been given a newish PC that has better specs then my current Backend machine. I would like to test run the machine with my current database, tv listing, and Recording Schedules before I make a full fledged leap to the new machine. I really only want to copy/move the Mythtv database over to the new machine to avoid bringing over any problem files from the existing installation that I cannot remedy. Should I just follow the steps listed on Mythtv wiki under Backend Migration, or are there other steps that should be done? Thanks in advance. |

The migration process is pretty straight forward, and is documented here. |

Opps, forgot to mention that I have already made the transition/migration from R7 to R8 on my existing backend machine some time ago. I am now looking to move from the "Old" machine (R8) to the New machine (R8), and would like to "test" it out before making the full jump. |

Your still going to install as a new install on the new machine and then move the database. I'd still use the partial restore option and then run setup. With new hardware you'll most likely have to make some changes anyway. |
