Post subject:  installation hangs

Hi all,
I am not very linux literate. Trying to install LinHES 8.1 on the following system:
Intel D946GZIS motherboard with core 2 duo CPU, 250Mb SATA disk and Hauppauge WinTV HVR3000 tv board. Several attempts go to what seems almost the whole way then activity stops during the phase End Database in CHROOT, ie (waited a very long time) the moving bar stops and there is no hard disk activity indicated on the computer. I have also tried installing on an 80Gb IDE drive with the same result. During installation I am invited to press MENU presumably on the Hauppauge remote but get no reaction. Can anyone tell me of a known problem here please.
I even posted it in the wrong topic.

I would look at the board Intel D946GZiS. The bios has issues with the Linux Kernel. This will make the install quite a bit more challenging.

Probably a custom kernel with the "acpi=nommconf" option would fix it but that is a guess
