With the impending schedules direct switchover, I decided to go ahead and upgrade to R8. Generally everything went well. I first upgraded to R8.0, then 8.1, and finally to R8.2 from the testing repo. My first attempt to upgrade was thwarted by an old Hauppauge PVR-250 which I have been using solely for the IR receiver. After removing the card everything upgraded smoothly. As a replacement to the PVR-250 IR reeiver, I pointed Myth to the IR receiver built into my HDHomerun. Unfortunately, The remote no longer functions properly.

Myth is not seeing (most) key presses from the remote, only the OK and ESC commands are regestering in myth. irw shows that the all commands are being received and the commands are being interpreted appropriately by LIRC. I have been using a modified Hauppauge-Grey remote profile for a long time with my universal remote. I also tried using the generic Hauppauge-Grey profile with the same results. This issue was present in R8.0, R8.1, and R8.2.

Does anyone have any ideas on where to go from here?

Thanks, I already abandoned the PVR-250 prior to the R8 install. I was only using the LIRC mappings associated with the Hauppauge-Grey with the HDHomerun IR receiver (too laze to reprogram my universal remote). I dug out an MCE remote and USB IR receiver and I am having the same problem.

I went to service menu-->LinHES Settings-->Remotes
Set the following settings:
'Remote' to 'mce'
'Receiver' to 'mce'
'Blaster' to 'none'
'LCD/VFD' to 'no_lcd'

Same result, irw shows all key presses are being properly interpreted by LIRC but myth isn't seeing anything.

There is also a note in the Linhes 8 news features and changes doc about some MCE Remotes.

I thought that only applied to the blaster, not the receiver? In either case the reciever is working with LIRC, in summary I have 2 distinct IR recievers which are working with LIRC but the commands are not being passed to the frontend. I'm lost.

In MythFrontend General settings is the LIRC socket /var/run/lirc/lircd?

I have the issue resolved. Unfortunately, I have no idea why the solution is working. The mce receiver paired with the Hauppauge key mapping seems to be working fine now. I didn't do anything that should have made any difference. I did check the socket setting, but it was correct; I dug trough the logs and didn't see any issues. I'm going to chalk this one up to gremilns this close to Halloween :roll: Thanks for the assistance. Excellent release
