I attempted to install Release 8.3 from an SD card.
I created a bootable SD card using unetbootin.
This method works fine with R7.4.
The boot starts but fails early on.
Here is an image of what I see when the boot fails:

Nevermind about that problem. I found that if I created the SD card using the command: Code: dd if=LinHES_R8.3.iso of=/dev/sdc (where /dev/sdc is the SD card device) Then I got a bit further. But now I'm stuck at this point:  It just sits there at 3% with the error shown at the bottom. I did this again using all default install options other than the timezone and the hostname and it stopped at the same point. Any ideas? [edit] another observation: the /tmp/mythvantage_install.log shows transferring system, and then the standard_in error is repeated every couple of seconds. If I leave it sitting there, top shows all of the memory being consumed and then the box locks up and becomes unresponsive. |

The HDD in the target machine was stuffed. I'm not sure why it resulted in those symptoms, but I was able to install after replacing the HDD. |
