I'm in the process of upgrading from R7 to R8.3. My backend upgrade went mostly fine (I have questions, but those can wait until I have a working system...). However, my standalone frontend installation didn't go as well. I get to the LinHES boot screen with the dots moving across the bottom, but it never gets past there. I'm guessing there's a problem with the video driver? Is there a way to temporarily disable this splash screen so that I can see where it's getting hung? Or, am I better off checking the logs? I'm assuming everything is still in /var/log?

F1 should remove the splash.

Thanks! :-)

I'll report back so that my solution is documented.

So, the error was that my swap was missing in fstab. I finally pinned the source problem to me messing with partition sizes during install. If I left them alone, everything worked fine. My best guess is that LinHES ran out of disk space during the install. I don't see how that resulted in a "successful" install. Perhaps some additional error checking is needed.

Anyway, problem resolved, thanks for the assistance.
