I just thought we might want to have a separate thread for the newest release, successes, "challenges", and questions.

R8.5.2 has been pushed to the release repos.

To update:
Make a backup
sudo rm /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/XML/SAX/ParserDetails.ini
sudo pacman -Syu
Answer Yes to all questions asking about replacing or removing packages

A new ISO will be uploaded in the next few days.

Why are we removing the Vendor_perl ParserDetails.ini?

The old version of perl-xml-sax didn't include ParserDetails.ini in the package but it was created and would then be in the filesystem. The new version does include it in the package but since it is in the filesystem and not owned by the package pacman would see it as a conflict and stop the update. So remove it before doing pacman -Syu.

mattbatt, I think most of this was in the testing repos several months ago and I upgraded to them at the time. If memory serves, I had very few issues and they were primarily self-inflicted by compiling my own packages. I expect to backup my system and perform the upgrade to the latest latest tomorrow.

P.S., if you don't delete the ini file first, you will get an error and nothing will upgrade.

Updated to the latest release today. Upgrade was flawless. Haven't found any issues so far.

"Congratulations to all the Dev's" for all the work and effort

It never fails I always seem to have an issue.
Code:
mythtv@ ~]$ sudo pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
 core is up to date
 extra is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
:: Replace dirmngr with core/gnupg? [Y/n] y
:: Replace dnsutils with extra/bind-tools? [Y/n] y
:: Replace libcl with extra/ocl-icd? [Y/n] y
:: Replace libdbus with core/dbus? [Y/n] y
:: Replace python-parted with core/python2-pyparted? [Y/n] y
resolving dependencies...
looking for conflicting packages...
:: qt5-base and qtchooser are in conflict. Remove qtchooser? [y/N] y
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: kodi-addon-pvr-mythtv-git: installing kodi (17.6-5) breaks dependency 'kodi<1           7.0'
[mythtv@gimli ~]$

It looks like all I had to do was go into the service menu -> LinHES settings -> Programs and uncheck Kodi on the 3rd or 4th page. It's currently upgrading.

I will need to dig deeper to document better (at all), but 40 percent of my hardware dies in kernel panic after reboot. 3 machines upgrades flawlessly, while 2 machines ends in Kernel panic - not syncing: Requested init /sbin/runit failed (error -2)

I have tried this same approach by unchecking kodi (under Linhes settings> programs)

If I'm not mistaken, isn't libglx related to a video driver? Could it be some sort of driver issue?
