I've run into an issue with LinHES deleting all my recordings after I copy them from my old Mythbuntu drive to the new LinHES drive. The database entries are still there, but the actual recordings in /myth/recordings/ get deleted.

The steps I took was to restore the database from the Mythbuntu system and then letting LinHES update the older database. Then I confirmed all of the settings through myth-setup, and finally I copied the recordings from the Mythbuntu drive to the /myth/recordings folder in the LinHES system.

I brought up mythbackend and was able to watch a couple of recordings through the frontend, but within an hour all of the recordings had been deleted. I've tried this 4 times with identical results.

I wondered if mythtv was expiring the recordings but the files are actually deleted even though I set the number of days to hold deleted files to 2. Also the drive isn't full.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Some additional information...

The issue seems to be with the recording script in cron.hourly. When I remove it the recordings are not deleted.

Do you see anything in backend logs? If myth is deleting them, there should be something in there.

/myth/recordings should never be a storage group for Myth recordings. The purpose of /myth/recordings is to have symlinks to all the recordings in the various storage groups in one central location and with meaningful names. One use case is to point Plex Media Server at /myth/recordings and be able to play Myth recordings in Plex. cron.hourly keeps /myth/recordings updated with new recordings as well as correct links in the event files get moved between storage groups. Part of that is to delete /myth/recordings and rebuild the symlinks.
If you use add_storage.py to add drives to the system the drives will be mounted at /data/storage and the directory structure media/tv is what would be created for storage groups.

Thanks for the quick replies!

As I have only one drive installed, should I create a directory 'tv' under /media and create a 'recordings' directory under that? After that I would use mythtv-setup to set /media/tv/recordings/ as the directory to hold the recordings?

Since you just have 1 drive /myth is a symlink to that drive and should already have a tv directory. Just drop your recordings in /myth/tv.
