i have an intel nuc D34010WYK with built in IR nuvoton-cir. i have configured mythtv to use favorite / MCE / default IR. my problem is that multiple MCE remotes will control the system but its very laggy. you have to hold the remote button down for 1 second before it will move. No combo of settings has made an improvement. if i kill the PID for lirc then the lag is 100% gone but of course now only the arrows keys work. Any sugetions would e greatly appreciated.

It seems lirc is somehow causing the slowness. Since the kernel IR framework seems to be working for you (the arrow keys work after killing lirc), maybe all you have to do is fix the kernel mappings and then uninstall lirc.

A very easy way that sometimes works is to change focus to an xterm window and hit keys on the remote to see what they do (ex. "record" typically results in the letter "R"). Then change the mythtv key mappings in the mythtv settings section to use these keys. I think that the mythtv settings also allows the remote key to be pressed directly, so you may not need the "xterm window" step.

If this doesn't work, you may have to change the kernel keymaps (search on ir-keytable and rc_keymaps). However, I generally find that the default mappings are close enough that a few tweaks in the mythtv settings are all that is needed.
