What tuner cards are working well with R6? I was looking into a Hauppage 1600 but I have read many mixed reviews here and elsewhere.

With also searching the forums, is there a limitation on the higher frequency channel bands above 125 for HD cards? I'd like to avoid a IR blaster but ... I see discussions regarding serial support with cable boxes and other various methods.

The HVR-1600 works almost OOTB with R6. I believe the only extra step required is to install the firmware, which is just copying a few files.

Most of the issues you will read about with this card stem from the fact support in Linux is only officially about a year old. During the beta stage there were many issues but now unless you're doing something really esoteric you shouldn't have any problems.

For your other question, the 1600 has dual tuners, with separe co-ax connections for each: one analogue (i.e. 125 channels) and one digital that should support anything needed for over-the-air HD.

Whilst I can't comment exactly on if the device will get the channels you need, but a HDHomeRun is also a good choice. The side benefit of this is, if you need to expand the number of tuners you can simply add another box and you have another two tuners.

Thanks for the input, I will certainly also look at the HDhomerun. I would highly enjoy having the higher tiered programing channels but ... it is not a deal breaker for me as R6 has met and exceeded my expectations as of now.

I have a pcHDTV-3000 and it works fabulous so I'd imagine the newer pcHDTV-5500 would be nice as well.
