Post subject:  Gyration GYR4101US Remote with LinHES 6.03

Greetings all,

I'm trying to get the most out of a Gyration GYR4101US remote. It is both RF and IR.

Off the bat I was able to physically install the USB dongle and get some basic functions(mouse movement, arrow keys - RF functions). But I'd like more granular control of the button function and to get the IR working too.

I'm not sure how to use the LinHes Service Menu Remote function "tinker" and am looking for more docs. If you have info, let me know. . .

I found some background info on the Mythwiki that the remote has support, but I'm having trouble configuring it on LinHes. lircd.conf is not in the location stated on the twiki and LinHes obviously has a hierarchy for this.
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Gyration-based_MCE_Remotes

From the looks of it I need to be in one of the following directories:
/usr/MythVantage/templates/remotes/
or
/usr/share/lirc/remotes/

and the important files seem to be:

lircd.conf.<remote_name>
lircrc.txt
preview.jpg

I've copied the lirc.conf from the mythtv.org. What should be in the lircrc.txt?

Is there a way to capture the codes(IR or RF)?

Should I be going about this in another way, like through the GUI?

Update:

I am using this remote with limited function. Arrow keys, select, and back functions working. I need to investigate the link below which is on XBMC on ubuntu, but may lead me in the right direction.

I have used irrecord to get the commands from infrared remote controls that didn't have support. The man page was quite useful.

Thanks rsay,

This remote is more of a mouse/keyboard input. It uses RF to communicate with the mythtv.
