Hey Guys,

my Linhes 6.03 works better and better but,

if I play a Audio CD it hangs all 5-10 seconds for a second.

where can I fix this?

Hi Wulf,

I used to get this too. Not too sure if it's still happening with mine now because I always rip CDs instead. This avoids the problem entirely and saves changing media discs.

If you actually want to fix it :-) you may want to let people know what your CD drive is. The usual fix will involve the hdparm settings. Do a man on hdparm and see what you can do. I would check whether the lookahead is on before doing anything else.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is related to some DB setting about downloading disk info when playing CDs. Maybe "AutoLookupCD"? Memory says that it's under media settings, music, ... Do you see different behavior if it's a "known" CD versus a "new" one? That would be a big clue.

Wow, you weren't kidding. I just tried this and it took nearly 20 seconds for the first CD to start playing, even with AutoLookupCD set to false, and when it did there was track info and a bunch of other meta data. The delay is clearly related to the on-line lookup, but I'm shocked how long it takes.

Yeah. That's an annoying problem that has been around since 0.22. Finally fixed in 0.24 according to the release notes.

(Note: I am referring to the buffering pauses.... not the slow start which I think is due to the CDDB lookup)

OK, so I'll check if the Problem still occours with 0.24.

can I yust upgrade or do I have to wait for a new release?
