I've run Dish Network SD satellite boxes to Hauppauge PVR 250 or 350 cards (by 3 RCA plugs...) without issue since the dawn of time.

I find myself considering (not letting sleeping dogs lie.....

...and upgrading the Dish boxes to HD (probably vip solo 211 box)

Anyone in the community already done this ?

I was figuring on using a Hauppauge 1212 out of the Dishbox to feed the Mythbox.
What connections are used to take HD from the satbox to the Hauppauge ?

Edit: Component video and fiber audio ?

I ended up using the five wire component video cable that came with the HDPVR (two audio and three video)
Haven't looked into fiber audio...

Composite video and audio ?

Works, didn't use it 'cuz component video is probably better resolution.

How does the Hauppauge signal (h.264 ?) go into the Mythbox ? (Eithernet ?)

Edit: Note to self: USB 2.0

Does the current bunch of Mythbox ir blaster codes cover the Dish 211 ?

Edit: Yes, the new sat box worked without changing the IR blaster codes that worked the old satbox. Other Dish codes are available, see the IR blaster files in Myth for the Dish Network equipment.

Does the 'screensaver' on the Dish 211 present a problem with a bouncing Dish logo cutting ito your recordings, or can it be disabled ? (My SD Dish boxes have no screensaver...)

Edit: New Satboxes: The screensaver that kicks in every 4 hours can be turned off from the (satbox) setup menu. The daily programming download (that defaults to 3 am..) can't be turned off, but it can have the time changed. The box turns off after the download and a Mythbox IR blaster command won't turn it back on. To get around this, you set a timer on the satbox to turn on to a selected channel at say 3:30 am (You need to give the download enough time to finish so i use a half hour.) If you have to record a movie that runs through this time period, the download time, and turn on time can be reset outside that time frame... but since it's mostly infomercials that time of night .....

Thanks ! ..... :D
