I am interested in upgrading my 200GB drive to a 2TB drive. Reliability is my primary concern, followed by low power consumption: the two go hand in hand.

I have been on pricewatch.com and found a WD Green drive and serveral others WD Green drive for around $80 shipped.

I'd like to hear from others who have installed 2TB drives in their systems and any lessons learned \ observations. Thanks.

And the head loading/unloading problem...

Be sure to browse down through the thread for details of how to address it with the wdidle3.exe utility.

If you look at the customer ratings of the high capacity WD green drives they generally don't fare well, and the complaints tend to focus on reliability. I more than half suspect that this issue is at the heart of many of those failures.

yes WD seems to be a little too far ahead of the curve on these Green Drives I have an 800 gb version and it has worked well (knock on wood)
