Unfortunately, the video card that I bought for my KM box is no longer available. I am building a box for a relative: need an S-video output. That being said, I have been looking at the available S-video PCI NVIDIA devices that, in an ideal world would support VDPAU.

Given that that this search produced this result, how would I determine if this card is supported in LH? Should my search be based on the chipset? I am open to suggestions for S-Video cards (PCI) that are proven, and preferably inexpensive.

Any geforce 6200 will work but no vdpau. The 88xx's that I've used via s-video out overscan beyond correction. You've been warned :)

You don't need vdpau for SD with modern CPU.

You might have more luck finding a card using the search term "TV-out" rather than S-video.

My box has a GeForce 8400 using Composite out (my TV does not work with s-video), but it is PCIe. But I'm sure there are PCI cards available, as well. Maybe this one: "PNY Verto GeForce 8400 GS" might fit the bill?

I spent a few days looking for a video card with VDPAU and S-video out but found nothing. I then bought a GT210 with HDMI out which forced me to buy a new HDTV :D

Sounds expensive :) In the OP's case, he has an onboard HDMI that should have no issues doing HD playback,
