Has anyone had success using this remote. If not, there seems to be a lot of these out there (WalMart, etc.) and they have plenty of buttons. If this is not standard and you have configured LIRC for this device, I would be interested in your results. Thank you.

I have a RC64 and a RC24 that I bought for testing purpose. They do have a good quality heavy feel to them and they look almost the same but the buttons on the RC64 are a little bit larger also the programing codes can change between models. The down fall they have seems to vary between each unit and that is the Four Mode Slide Switch (there name). If you get a good one the switch clicks in solidly into position, you can hear it snap. The poor ones on the other hand slide back and forth and you have to hunt in that area to make it work. All four modes of this remote are programmable. The first mode (DirecTV position) can be programed with at least 25 different product codes. Use default code 00001 so others can use any data you post. Volume control can be a problem that requires reading the manual. If I remember right it is not setup by default also a DirecTV Set-top box has no volume control so there is no IR output from the volume control until you program your TV in to it. If you use the internal MythTV sound (sound card) you will have to devise a work around for it. As for cost I bought mine for $5.00 apiece off of Crags List but I see you can purchase the latest model RC65 off of ebay new for $6.00 delivered. There is about a half dozen different models of the RC65xx so you will have to do some reading. I can post a working lircd.conf file if you want it also I do have photos of the RC64 disassembled. These would help if you ever need to clean the body oils off your pc board.
