I had Digital audio working under 6.04 and now I can't get it to work in R7.4. It's an ACER E360 Motherboard. Using the onboard audio.
Audio info listed in the manual as
Controller: MCP51
Codec: Realtek ALC850 (7.1 channel audio support)
UAJ support (HD audio feature suppport on rear only)

The spdif (IEC 958) shows up under Settings>General>MythTV>audio but doesn't work.
Under Settings>LinHES>Audio I can only see the Nvidia HDMI audio output
Alsaconf doesn't see it either only the Nvidia.

Aplay -l
Code:
 aplay -l

The SAF is still OK since I have audio working over HDMI to the TV. MyAF is low since my amp only has SPDIF in and not HDMI.

Thanks for your help.

I booted into Ubuntu on the same machine and the audio was working.
Only analog stereo over SPDIF, and audio over HDMI was working. I tried changing it to 5.1 and the audio starts pulsing.
Here is a video of what I found in Ubuntu. Sorry that the volume of the TV is a little too quiet at times.

OK I figured it out.
I'm not sure where or why it went wrong But I can tell you what works.
I found someone somewhere on some forum mention that the IEC 985 needs to be set to 0. After reading this I dismissed it and kept looking and forgot about it. Then I remembered and tried it and Voila Alsa Defalut IEC works perfectly

here is a small description
