Post subject:  Extracting audio from recordings

Hello all,
I wanted to extract the audio portion of a recording, and was able to do so with ffmpeg, converting to a .wav file for easy import to Audacity. Unfortunately, however, the program shows a stereo flag in LinHes, but ffmpeg would only produce mono output. As far as I can tell, ffmpeg has no commands for stereo/mono output, what goes in is what comes out I guess. But I must be missing something here. Any ideas?
TIA,
--Bud

On your LinHes box there should be a script at /usr/LH/bin/myth2mp3 that will convert a recording to an mp3 and can be used as a User Job from within Myth.

From memory I believe that -ac 2 will force ffmpeg to 2 channels but check the man ffmpeg to confirm.

I've used mplayer in the past for extracting soundtracks of movies I had and it was exceptionally easy.
Here's a useful URL:
