I just got around to upgrading my LinHES from 8.3 to 8.4 this holiday weekend. I ran the upgrade using the posted instructions, and everything went without a hitch - no problems. When I cat /etc/LinHES-release, I see that I actually have 8.4.2.

Now, on to my problem... I hear Kodi is all the rage now, and that everyone should be using it. So, I decided to try it out. Using the Kodi install already available on LinHES (version 16.1), I quickly saw that the MythTV plugin/add-on was not configured in Kodi by default. However, "MythTV PVR Client" appears to be available - at least it showed up in the TV settings (I think). But when I clicked "Enable" to enable it, then tried to actually access Myth recordings from Kodi, nothing works and the add-on gets disabled again. After enabling debug logging, I found this in the log:

Code:
23:31:23 T:139786270529280   DEBUG: RegisterClient - registering add-on 'MythTV PVR Client'
23:31:23 T:139786270529280   DEBUG: Previous line repeats 1 times.
23:31:23 T:139786270529280   DEBUG: PVR - Create - creating PVR add-on instance 'MythTV PVR Client'
23:31:23 T:139786270529280   DEBUG: ADDON: Dll Initializing - MythTV PVR Client
23:31:23 T:139786270529280   ERROR: PVR - Add-on 'MythTV PVR Client' is using an incompatible API version. XBMC minimum API version = '4.1.0', add-on API version '1.9.6'
23:31:23 T:139786270529280 WARNING: UpdateAndInitialiseClients - failed to create add-on MythTV PVR Client, status = 6
23:31:23 T:139786270529280 WARNING: UpdateAndInitialiseClients - failed to load the dll for add-on MythTV PVR Client, disabling it

So, I am guessing that the MythTV API has changed recently and there is a newer/different version of the MythTV add-on for Kodi required?

Has anyone else ran into this who knows how to fix it?

Thanks,
Trevor

I guess no one is using Kodi anymore? I see mention of Plex in the latest release notes - perhaps folks are using that instead?

Hi,

I really like Mythtv, linhes and Kodi.

I'm using Kodi 17 Beta5 and Beta6 (Kodi on Mac and PC and LibreELEC (Krypton) v7.90.008 ALPHA on chromecast) right now and it"s working very well with Mythtv Backend. So it should work well for you too.

Maybe try latest version and keep us informed.

Linhes is so stable that the forum is not very active

Have a good day
Bob

If I understand you correctly.

Kodi is setup on a master install of LinHES as a server by default.
If you enabled Kodi on your Master Backend you have no need for another MythTV frontend (client).
MythTV frontend is far superior to Kodi MythTV Client addon.

On the other hand lets say you have a windows laptop you have Kodi installed on as a client you would want to
set up MythTV PVR Client so you could also view your MythTV recordings because there is no consistent MythTV
application for Windows.
