Post subject:  Installing the pcHDTV 5500 with R5C7

As root
Code:
cd /usr/src
wget ftp://ftp.knoppmyth.net/R5/v4l-dvb-b5798581eeb3.tar.bz2
tar xjvf v4l-dvb-b5798581eeb3.tar.bz2
cd v4l-dvb-b5798581eeb3
make all
make install
reboot

If you have an ivtv based tuner in the same box, odds are a segfault in the boot process will prevent you from booting. So, don't do this if you have an ivtv based tuner in the same box you want to install the 5500 in... I'll post a fix when I find one.

Your nameservice lookup (or your providers) is roached, although it may be just a temporary abberation.
Code:
root@black2:~# gethostip ftp.KnoppMyth.Net
ftp.KnoppMyth.Net 140.211.166.97 8CD3A661
root@black2:~# date
Wed Jun 21 23:09:05 EDT 2006

Try again...

Are you in the same directory as the file? Provide greater details.

maybe you should copy and paste the whole thing in here. the most likely cause is a typo or incorrect case.

I tested the HD side and it does work. I never tested the analog side. If you'd like a recommendation on a analog cards, search the forum or post in another thread under the appropriate section of the forum.

Any word on how this works with R5D1? Is it even necessary? I saw in the R5D1 changelog that support was added for the HD-5500.

My HD-5500 is coming in the mail in a few days, and I can't wait to get started!

You're are asking a question with an obvious answer. It wouldn't be in the changelog if it didn't work..

Known issue with the DVB drivers. Searching for DVB and ALSA should provide more details. The short answer is to try taking the card out, installing like that, and then putting it back in and setting it up.
