Figuring out which channels you have compared to what the tv_grab_no can offer program guide data for can be a bit hard...

This overview is based on the XMLTV nightly build from the 11th of July 2006.

The channels in this list can be used to edit the .xmltv file for MythTV.

This is an alternative to set it up with mythfilldatabase.

COL A: The name of the channel in your /home/mythtv/.mythtv/*.xmltv
COL B: The tv_grab_no (XMLTV) id of the channel

    Channels available on UPC Oslo that I could not map to this list:
  • Danish TV2 (Total package)
  • Viasat Nature/Crime (Plus package)
  • Local-TV (Basis)
  • UPC Info channel (Basis)
I live in a building where the cable-tv is payed by the building society. So I haven't bothered to get the decoder.
This means that some of these channels aren't available to me. Like "Viasat Nature/Crime" which is shareing frequency with Jetix and Playboy (what a mix...)

So based on the list above, you can now edit your mythtvs .xmltv file and comment in the channels you have, and comment out the ones you don't have.

The alternative is to run this as "mythtv" user:

This will let you select your channels

PS, this page is great for icons for mythtv. Also it has a link to a PDF file with the channels for Oslo and other places in norway, with channel and channel MHz.

Hmm, in my KnoppMyth setup (R5C7 upgraded from R5A16) the ids are like this: 1.fredag.dagbladet.no, 2.fredag.dagbladet.no
But it works, so I guess this is just an alternative way. :-)

Some of us have the "TV2 Zebra" channel. But fredag.dagbladet.no (which is what tv_grab_no uses) don't carry listings for that channel. Is there a way to get listings for this channel into MythTV?

Post subject:  R5D1 have updated xmltv / tv_grab_no
FYI, version R5D1 of KnoppMyth includes an updated version of xmltv / tv_grab_no, and this includes the TV2 zebra and SportN channels. Now, if I only could get it to work (but thats another topic).
