Post subject:  Getting MythWeather to work for Canada

I was using R5A22 and MythWeather worked for Toronto Canada.
I installed the new R5D1, and MythWeather did not work.
(maybe Zap2it messed it up? I did not use Zap2it for the R5A22 install.)

I did the following first....
-----------------------------------
I had the same issue, I corrected it by doing the following.

Start up a terminal window login as root at the command line type

mysql <enter>
use mythconverg; <enter>
Update settings Set settings.data='type in your zip code' Where settings.value='locale'; <enter>
--------------------------------------

I use the closest US city to Toronto. That was Buffalo NY,
I forget what postal code I used..14041 i think...
anyways just pick any valid US postal code.

And yes, I was now getting the proper Buffalo Weather and radar maps woohoo!

after a while thought....why not change it to Toronto now?

So from inside MythTV, I went into

UTILITIES SETUP>SETUP>Info Center Settings>Weather Settings

and chose Toronto.
It did not complain, because it had a good working Buffalo setting.
And yes it found the CAXX504 for Toronto.

The only thing I could wish for was that the radar picture was more regional instead of all of Canada. But im weather happy now!

Disregard all the above mumbo jumbo (Nicholas Cage)

When your installing it for the first time, just use any valid US postal code.
Then change it later when MythTV is up and running.
