To all Knoppmyth users, I believe that it is now possible to provide Wake On LAN function for your master backend. I have successfully had this working for about 6 months now employing an Xbox running Damn Small Linux for Xbox http://x-dsl.org This runs 24/7 and includes ssh daemon to allow remote login. My master backend shuts down automatically after a few minutes of idle time. The Knoppmyth Wiki has been updated to include my set up and technique. http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=WakeonLANConcierge Provided you are willing to let a lower power box run all the time, this solution should work and save power. An added benefit is that the box running 24/7 with a secure portal (like ssh) or a web page (like apache) and a router or firewall that passes some ports will permit you to wake your master backend remotely (like from anywhere with an internet connected PC and set up recordings, use mythsteamTV, etc. Give it a try and let the community know how it works.
