When trying to set up the backend for access from networked front-end clients, I remember changing a skip networking line in the /etc/mysql/my.cnf file. When I checked that file, things appeared to have changed, the wiki too knows it needs to be updated. I was not able to find the new method of enabling networked access to the backend here, any suggestions?

BTW, so far I am loving the responsiveness of R5E50, live tv and channel changes are much snappier.
My only real problems have been with my serial port directv.pl channel changing script. But hey, how else am I supposed to learn how linux works?!

Thanks, now I've got to search down a previous post I made about the way Mac handles authentication for servers so I can test that with my frontend on osx.
