At this stage, R5.5 is just around the corner, so if you can wait just a bit longer, you may not need to apply this driver patch anymore because R5.5 uses ALSA 1.0.16.

Thanks. It's just a stopgap to extend the life of a release, but it does its job. Eventually, KM will receive updates via packages, like a regular distro.

Code:
chmod -x /usr/local/bin/LivePatch.sh
will make it not run.

When does the patcher run?
You could just unplug the network until you need to configure the tvguide grabber.

It runs as soon as the network is configured. You could try unplugging the network, but it may take a while to time out. The command I wrote above will obviate the need to unplug anything or wait on a timeout.

I still haven'/t managed to get the sound working ...

the on board sound is detected ...
