If anyone would like to play around with Darwin Streaming. This is what I did to get it installed with R5F1.

(Darwin is used on the mythwiki to stream to mobile phones.)

Download Source code
http://developer.apple.com/opensource/s ... index.html

copy to /tmp and unpack

$ cd /tmp

# tar xvzf DarwinStreamingSrvr5.5-Source.tar.gz

$ cd DarwinStreamingSrvr5.5-Source

First to make the install run properly I needed to create user qtss. If this isn't done, the install fails.

# useradd qtss

(when I was asked for a password, I just hit <enter> leaving blank)

Second I needed to copy some files to the local directory to install properly.
(http://streaming411.com/wiki/Darwin_Str ... ebian_Etch)

Still from the /tmp/DarwinStreamingSrvr5.5-Source directory...

# cp WebAdmin/perlpath.pl .
# cp PlaylistBroadcaster.tproj/PlaylistBroadcaster .
# cp qtpasswd.tproj/qtpasswd .
# cp Documentation/readme.txt .
# cp Documentation/3rdPartyAcknowledgements.rtf .
# cp WebAdmin/src/streamingadminserver.pl .
# cp -R WebAdmin/WebAdminHtml/ ./AdminHtml

Then I ran the build and install.

# ./Build
# ./Install

You will be prompted for Darwin user and password. Make these whatever you wish.

Then login at http://your_local_ip_address:1220/

and you should be ready to configure and play.

(Restarting the Darwin server after a reboot is still a bit buggy.)

Did that a while ago. After 3GP user job, a simple php page and a few port redirects on my ADSL router, I'm now able to view recordings over 3G (384 kbps) connection on my PocketPC no matter where I am.

When ever I feel like boosting my geek factor I pull up my device. "Wonder what I recorded yesterday..."
