Post subject: | Conflicting memory types errors while running X |
I noticed a lot of conflicting memory types errors on my backend machine when running X on my R6.00.09 backend. X becomes unstable and when it crashes the machine locks up and I lose network connection. When in this locked state nothing fixes it short of a reboot. My /var/log/messages.log contains things like this: Quote: Aug 18 15:05:38 mythbox-mbe X:31659 conflicting memory types ec000000-ed000000 write-combining<->uncached-minus and my box beeps constantly (beep-pause-beep-pause...) until I reboot.

If you add "nopat" (without the quotes) to your kernel boot parameters in /boot/grub/menu.lst and reboot your problems should go away. |

Your hw profile suggests you're only running nvidia graphics "cards". The 'fix' was for an ATI driver. That bug was also closed in March this year. You didn't say if nopat+reboot fixed the problem. Did it? Mike |

Ignore my very outdated profile The backend in question uses the VESA driver for it's onboard video. manicmike wrote: You didn't say if nopat+reboot fixed the problem. Did it?
Yes it did! [edit]Hardware profile now fixed and accurate [/edit] |
