I just posted a howto over on the wiki for how to monitor the motherboard temps and fan speeds using xmbmon, a program I came across during a search today.

I know there was some interest in this, so go give it a look.

The howto is at http://knoppmythwiki.homelinux.org/inde ... boardHowTo

Worked like a charm Xsecrets, thanks. :) I made the tiniest change to cd to the src directory before running configure.

Xsecrets - I may have to start lobbying for your canonization. We'll get you up there in the pantheon with St. Dogbert who casts out the demons of stupidity! :D :) :D

Oooooo... This is good, REALLY good!

Now with this and the "smartd" package I can monitor temps of my system, cpu, and disks! Wouldn't it be great if these items showed up on the "system status" pages of the Myth box and MythWeb?

BTW -- it worked out of the box on my Abit NF7-M.

Thanks for the top tip! Just did a

apt-get update && apt-get install xmbmon

and got it working in about two minutes. Works fine on an Asus CUBX socket 370 mobo. Updated the list of mobo's that work on the Wiki.

aarrggh I though I searched apt, but there it sits mbmon and xmbmon in unstable tree. Well then I guess I'll have to modify the page to say doh! if you want lots of work you can do it this way. :roll:

Thanks for this info. If you want to monitor your hard drives temperature and status the smarttools is a great tool, see:
