I have a IR keyboard/mouse combo that is hooked up to my myth box
but i couldnt find a remote that would work with it at any of my local computer/electronic stores

so here is what i did:

I bought a learning remote from bestbuy: one-for-all learning remote($35)
set it up to control my tv/reciever/etc
then to make it work for myth all i had to do was point my keyboard at the remote and tell it to "learn" then whenever i push that key on the remote it emulates the keyboard and myth does what its supposed to.

just thought id share that with the rest of you if you cant find a remote..

How many keys will your remote learn?. I've read other posts where they can only get a maximum of about 7-8 keys before it runs out of memory.

I'd like a remote that will learn any and every function in the keyboard but don't know that that's possible. Anysuggestions?

I think those posters must have been using very cheap learning remotes. My one has learnt over 100 buttons from about 12 different remotes and a InfraRed keyboard. I think it can do macros of up to 20 commands or steps, but I don't remember if "pauses" are included in that count.

It was a Universal Remotes MX500.

This is a good site to learn about remotes:

thanks for the website. Is this the remote you're talking about?

Yes, that is the one. It was the only remote I found that has editable buttons plus the right number of real buttons (i.e. Up/Down/Left/Right/Select and FFWD, REW, PLAY, PAUSE, SKIP fwd, SKIP back).
