What worked for me is adding the following to
/home/mythtv/.fvwm/.fvwm2rc

exec xgamma -rgamma .8
exec v4lctl setattr "chroma agc" off

before
exec KnoppMyth-run

this took the red saturation out of both my recordings
and playback.
