To avoid ivtv memory allocation error with i810 run the following:

echo "vm.min_free_kbytes = 16384" >> /etc/sysctl.conf

You will need to reboot for the change to take effect.

I am using an Intel ca810e motherboard with embedded i810 VGA. The i810 is using the BIOS/Linux default of 16MBs graphics memory out of 128MBs total system RAM.

Celeron 533MHz
PVR-350

Your own results may vary.

The above was not needed with KnoppMyth R4V5.

Additional hint:

Whatever you add to /etc/sysctl.conf can be activated immediately without a reboot by using:

Code:
sysctl -p

or the specific addition can be activated like this:

Code:
sysctl -w vm.min_free_kbytes=16384

Saves you another reboot.

sysctl -w vm.min_free_kbytes=16384

is not required for the Intel CA810E motherboard if another 128MBs is added so total system memory is 256MBs.
