Post subject:  Tuning OTA antenna for HD signals HD3000 with DVB drivers

The dtvsignal that was bundled with KnoppMyth R5A30.2 includes the old tools dtvsignal, dtvscan, etc. that can be used to point your over the air antenna in the best direction for the channels you care about. Unfortunately, these don't appear to work with the DVB configuration that is recommended for the pcHDTV HD3000 or HD2000 cards. Downloading the latest dvb-atsc tools from http://www.pcHDTV.com and then compiling them provides tools that work with the dvb configuration for R5A30.2.

The make, make install failed complaining about not supporting the -C option. I ran the install command minus the -C command and it worked for me, atleast dtvsignal, which I needed to fine tune my antenna direction worked. Be sure to stop the backend /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend stop before trying to use dtvsignal.

Also, use the frequency id (not the channel number mythtv assigned) from http://www.antennaweb.org/.

Using ssh back into the mythbox is really useful if your adjusting a remote antenna.
